TWINKLERS COOKOUT

‘Kids can cook too’ fellowship that LC4 had organized for our twinklers on the 30th of Nov’ 09 Kids cooked and baked (and even made a mocktail)!.

The first activity was ‘making the chef hat’ where each twinkler got a chance to make his/her own hat with their name on it. They went ahead to the make peanut butter funny face sandwiches, with banana slices as eyes and m&m’s curved to make a mouth. They also made chicken and vegetable sandwiches. Some of them made bhel, adding all the various ingredients so thoughtfully prepared by Cr. Nikki and this is the best part… they served their moms with the dishes they had so lovingly made!

The kids made mini pizzas, and a blue Curacao drink which was really refreshing. And then, in the kitchen they went on to bake muffin after muffin under Cr. Kavita’s tutelage and boy were they good, they could give any baker a run for his money. The curious and eager kids were hovering around her like bees to honey. After the muffins were baked to perfection, they all sat around to decorate them with colourful icing, chocolate, marshmallows, and all kinds of candy to make them look even more scrumptious. We couldn’t wait to lay our hands on them, but we were told to wait wait wait!

The feast continued, with more sandwiches, a bake dish, jello and more muffins! So all we moms did was actually sit and watch the kids have a total blast, making stuff and stuffing our faces thereafter. (They brought some home for the dads’ too)

That was not all, there was another fun activity that followed, they all had to make these little cards by sticking animals and flowers and butterflies on them, and we moms had to buy them from the kids. Kudos to Cr. Kavita and Cr. Divya who managed all those brats screaming for attention and glue and sequins and what not.

Chairman Suraj, along with Area Honorary Tr. Satish and Area Twinklers convernor Yusuf dropped in just then to inaugurate the little genius club for the twinklers. The kids pledged themselves to the club and were given t-shirts and pins and caps.

As a take away, the circlers had created cookbooks for the kids with recipes of the goodies made that evening, so that they could make the same mess time and again in their own homes. Also it made for great memorabilia of a fantastic evening.

We then took some photographs and managed to get the excited and unruly lot back home. Some of the twinklers even stayed back to burst crackers, finishing off the evening with a cherry on the top.

I’m sure all of us circlers went home with a great feeling about our little chefs. The sense of pride that they felt when they made something for us was truly to treasure.

Cr. Nikki, Cr. Ambika, Cr. Nancy and Cr. Kavita, what can I say, it was in my books the best twinkler fellowship ever, innovative, well organized, thoroughly thought through, and most of all super duper fun.

The funds raised by them was used in a project which was by the twinklers at KARNA PRAYAG which is a home which shelters infants n children below the age of 8 years. Here we gave baby shampoo, diapers, cerelac n milk powder worth rs.6500/-. This way we end all the fun n hard work of twinklers n circlers in a meaningful project.
